It is rumored that the backlog of redlining cases at the DOJ are about to be accelerated to public enforcement actions. Please sign up and listen to Ben's Compliance Corner this month (taking place virtually on July 19th, noon-1PM) with SCA's Rob Ellis as a guest to discuss redlining and specifically dissect a recent enforcement action case.

From the MMBA:
This month's topic: Redlining Enforcement - How the Heck Does This Happen, and Should a Good Compliance Officer See It Coming a Mile Away?
Redlining continues to be the top priority of federal regulators since the U.S. Dept. of Justice announced its new Initiative to Combat Redlining on October 22, 2021. Things on the enforcement front don't seem to be slowing down, with rumors recently that the DOJ is nearing a record backlog of potential redlining cases that have been escalated to it. Today we'll consider the following basic question: Should a good compliance officer see this coming from a mile away? We'll unpack the details of one recent redlining enforcement action that I find intriguing and discuss redlining best practices, such as for fair lending software solutions, tracking loan officer marketing activities, email monitoring, and more.
Please also take a moment to complete the following survey prior to joining. Participation is not required (although it'd make things more interesting). The MMBA will keep survey responses confidential only discuss the results in general terms and only during the live presentation, which as always will not be recorded. For those among us who are less trusting, survey responses will also be accepted via email to Debbie Sousa (Dsousa@massmmba.com).
