IBAT on the Ground in D.C. This Week
IBAT members are taking the voice of Texas community banking to the United States Capitol this week, meeting with both Texas Senators and more than two-thirds of the Texas Congressional Delegation.
In those meetings, IBAT members will address issues of importance to our industry and communities, including:
Ensuring any legislative or regulatory response to recent large bank failures do not add additional costs or regulatory burden to community banks;
Minimizing or eliminating the burden and negative consequences of the implementation of Section 1071 small business reporting mandates;
Encouraging appropriate regulatory oversight for digital assets and reinforcing our strong opposition to the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency;
Advocating for “a level playing field” with tax-advantaged competitors (credit unions, Farm Credit System lenders);
Reiterating concerns regarding the blending of banking and commerce and expressing support for closing the Industrial Loan Company (ILC) loophole; and
Opposing additional routing requirements on credit card transactions.
As always, IBAT’s legislative priorities are available on our website in both abbreviated and expanded versions.
